 note = {Johann von Thunen's famous "rings" in his Der isolierte Staat are used analytically more frequently in geography rather than economics, because of his emphasis on agricultural location. However, his thought has ultimately rational methods of running agricultural activities that are based on transportation cast and rent. Adding to these things, he gave a foundation of resource allocation in the field of income distribution theory. Then I will try to apply his approach to development theory, in terms of sythesizing his ideas and W.A.Lewis's one which are still on a central position in development economics. In doing so, we perceive that von Thunen's frontier was the capitalist secor which performed the important role in Lewis's model in the sense that it drew in the surplus labor from the subsistence setor unlimitedly.},
