The key concept of Nose's classroom management in the 192O's was the self-government of classmates based on their spontaneous activities, because he was influenced by the philosophy of the New Education. During the jingoistic decade of the 193O's, however, Nose proposed that the school and classroom should become "Dojos", which originally mean a training hall for martial arts or Zen practice. They were built as a place to strengthen the character and will power of the learner or disciple. Using the word "Dojo" in a nationalistic context, Nose emphasized the unanimous agreement of all the pupils' activities in the classroom which resulted in the promotion of the loyalty to the state as a whole and the heightening of the Japanese spirit through schooling. These were destined to be regarded as slogan of the ultra nationalistic government in its support for the Emperor.}, pages = {99--113}, title = {戦時下における学校・学級道場の構想について : 野瀬寛顕の場合を中心として}, volume = {16}, year = {1988}, yomi = {シムラ, ヒロアキ} }
